Let's fry some gluten-free doughnuts

Video lesson - Includes both a sourdough and yeasted version, 100% whole-grain flours only.

Finding a ready-made gluten-free version of our favorite treats isn’t easy, we know. Like many other gluten-free baked goods, the best option to enjoy a good donut is often to make them yourself at home.

Follow this step-by-step donut video recipe, and trust me—you will be able to achieve perfect homemade donuts without relying on commercial gluten-free flour blends or gums (no xanthan gum, no guar gum!). These donuts are made entirely with whole-grain gluten-free flours, yet they still have an incredibly soft texture, just like traditional ones.

While I prefer making this dough with a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, in the video, I mix it by hand to show you how simple it can be. A mixer makes the process easier, but even without one, you can still achieve a well-mixed, smooth dough—it just takes a few extra minutes.

With the same dough, you can make donuts with holes or without, and even donut holes.

Here below the ingredients for both sourdough and yeasted version.
